Description of Sunflower Sunset

This was the first painting I had attempted in over 40 years. My wife had encouraged me to take up my art again. After many years of working to support my family, sometimes two or more jobs, I finally had time for me. At this point anything was a challenge to defeat my mental blocks that I could still paint like I did when I was younger. The landscape appealed to me because it was bold colors of the sunset with the freedom and movement of the sunflowers. I guess it kind of communicated what I felt at that moment. Here I was boldly proceeding, in the sunset of my life to once again be free to be me.
