Golden Winter

I have a wife that presents me with incredible challenges to bring to life on canvas. She found this winter scene that takes your breath away it is so full of the sun’s radiance. This was an awesome picture where the sun lit up the waterway below and brought the whole forest to life. I saw the challenge as showing thousands of tiny winter branches that seems like it would take forever to create all these tiny branches. I needed to create the mood with the blue shadows and prepare the base for the bright reflection. The attached pictures show some of the process for me to bring it to an acceptable completion.  The golden glistening reflection of the sunlight explodes in the waters of the stream and ignites into the ripples as the water moves along the waterway. I wanted so badly to imitate the power of this scene in all its true glory. It’s hard to portray what only God can create, but I hope it has the same impact on you as it has had on me and others I’ve shared it with on Facebook.

This one is not for sale, but I would be glad to entertain creating a similar likeness as a commission.
