Black Canyon Sunset

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado has such rugged slopes and canyons; its multitudes of angles and shapes creates an interesting mixture as its combines with the sunlight, textures and colors of the rocks and earth. When I see this scene, I want to express the variables of colors as it reflects off the different slopes and angles, allowing the shadows to deepen the highlights of the canyon walls. I watch the light travel from the horizon through the canyon floor as it makes it way to the farthest edge. And the beautiful way the sun lights up the canyon walls, it excites it with the warm yellows and pinks of the sunset. The western sunset skies of Colorado are unmatched as they illuminate the mountains and canyons of western Colorado.
